Not Bad At All – Cell Phone Window Mount Review

January 8, 2012 | Author: | Posted in Mobile Phones

Bought this for my HTC Glacier as I use its GPS instead of my Garmin now (Google maps is just so much faster and more accurate) so I got this to use for that and I’m very happy with it. It’s well built, feels really solid and not cheap at all. It’s still usable for now, but I think in another month or two, I’ll probably have to switch over to using the dash mount. I like the fact that the item included both the windshield and vent mount.

So that makes it useless for ANY of the purposes for which it is sold. I am close to giving up on any vent mount due to all the problems they have.

I purchased almost 2 years ago. I have used various sized cell phones all the way up to the gigantic EVO.

I don’t have that fear with the vent mounting. This is surprising good quality for the price. If your car does have a Bluetooth audio system, this will just make that system better by providing a great place to put your phone. The unit feels a bit flimsy upon initial inspection, but has proven to be quite durable in spite of first impressions.

Obviously this depends on the phone, mounting location, and cord. It is cool product but vent mount is not staying in the vent too good.

My phone stays in well (Samsung mesmerize) and has never fallen out. Excellent product, highly recommend. My only major concern is that the release makes a loud clunk and flings the arms apart which I feel will eventually break this item so I’m being careful to ease things by having my hand around the whole unit when pushing the release so my fingers will cushion the outward motion and keep the phone from possibly dropping. For anyone who is having trouble with mounting the item, you should look at all the adjustment options available, several of which the manual does not mention.

If you have the extended battery or a case — you are out of luck. I found this case to be a cheap, functional replacement. This is still a bit disappointing, as in my car, mounting it on the windshield puts the phone up fairly high, which is why I wanted the vent mount. If you want a vent mount, I’d look elsewhere. I’m happy with the product. It works as advertised. I am using the Arkon with the vent mount. The mount fit the vents in my Monte Carlo just fine. I have it placed on my dashboard and it is as tough as a rock. I had some mounts that would just fall of my vent and then my stuff would be everywhere. I use it dash mounted. It holds my iPhone 4 perfectly!

When mounted in a vent, which notoriously won’t be very close to you, the mount will not allow the phone so swivel left/right far enough to have a clear direct view of the device. Small Recessed Medicine Cabinets.
